The Prescott Fire Department is a volunteer department with
a staff of 40 active members.
The Prescott Fire Department is under the direction of Bill
Dravis, Fire Chief.
His Assistant Chiefs and their positions on the department are
as follows:
Tom Lytle Assistant Chief - Tom's primary
responsibility is Administration of the Fire Department in the
Chief's absence.
Greg Goehring Assistant Chief - Greg's primary
responsibility is the training of the Fire Department Staff.
Dennis Eaton Assistant Chief - Dennis's primary
responsibility is the Safety of the Fire Department.
Mike Sterud Chief Engineer - Mike's primary
responsibilities are the maintenance and operation of the
trucks, equipment, and supplies the Fire Department uses.
Because the Chief Engineer's job is such a huge one, there are
three engineers that work with Mr. Sterud. The officers and
their jobs are as follows:
Donny Johnson Engineer - Maintenance and
operation of 12 fleet vehicles.
Eric Johnson Engineer - Small engines,
extrication tools, and Rapid Intervention Team
Mark Hudak Engineer - Self Contained Breathing
Apparatus (SCBA) this job has all the masks the fire fighter wear,
to the SCBA the fire fighters wear into a fire, to the machine that
fills the air tanks.
The Fire Department also has three captains that take command
roles on scene as well as other duties. These officers and their
job duties are as follows:
Paul Johnson Captain - training of 40
firefighters.
Lynn Johnson Captain - pre-plans -
there are many businesses, apartment complexes, etc. in our
service area and we have a pre-plan for each one of these in the
case of an emergency.
Chad Johnson Captain - rural fire officer - The
Prescott Fire Department covers 54 square miles of area and 12
miles of river way. This officer is in charge of pre-planning this
area.
The Prescott Fire Department has two major fund raising events
each year and several minor ones. The Job of coordinating these
events falls to Richard Olson activities
director.
The Prescott Fire Department has a secretary/treasurer to keep
track of the business of the Fire Department. This
responsibility goes to Dan Olson.
The Fire Department is required by state law to do
fire inspections on all multi-family dwellings, commercial
buildings, and industrial buildings. This job falls on
the fire inspector. Matt Knott.
We also do a large amount of community education. The department
has Mark Fiedler taking care of our public
education.
There are many other jobs that happen in the background also,
too many to write on this page. I would take this opportunity to
thank the entire department. If it was not for them none of
this would be possible.
