About the Prescott Police Department

The Prescott Police Department is a 24-hour law enforcement agency. We are one of three full-time police departments in Pierce County, Wis. We protect and serve a year-round population of 4100 as well as thousands of visitors to the confluence of the Mississppi and Saint Croix Rivers and the beginning of the Great River Road, a national tourist attraction. We are the western-most city in Wisconsin and only 20 minutes from Saint Paul, Minn.

We have eight (8) full-time and four (4) part-time police officers. We also have a non-sworn code enforcement officer and a non-sworn animal control officer.

Our support staff consists of one full-time and one part-time administrative assistant.

Our business office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday except for legal holidays. Our business telephone is (715) 262-5512. It is answered during business hours. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center answers our business line when our office is closed.

We encourage Prescott residents to report emergencies and non-business calls for police service by dailing 911. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center will dispatch an officer to your location or arrange for in person or telephone contact with an officer.

Our department is a full-service law enforcement agency. We conduct criminal investigations, investigate traffic accidents, enforce traffic law and city ordinances, answer calls for service and assist other agencies. We are assisted by deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff's Office and troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Our officers are highly-trained professionals with special law enforcement skills and talents. We have our own evidence technician and photographer, criminal investigator, firearms instructor, field training officers and officers with extensive experience in investigating crimes against youth, domestic violence and senior citizens.
