About the Prescott Police Department
The Prescott Police Department is a 24-hour law enforcement
agency. We are one of three full-time police departments in
Pierce County, Wis. We protect and serve a year-round population of
4100 as well as thousands of visitors to the confluence of the
Mississppi and Saint Croix Rivers and the beginning of
the Great River Road, a national tourist attraction. We are
the western-most city in Wisconsin and only 20 minutes from Saint
Paul, Minn.
We have eight (8) full-time and four (4) part-time police
officers. We also have a non-sworn parking enforcement officer and
a non-sworn animal control officer.
Our support staff consists of one full-time and one part-time
administrative assistant.
Our business office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday except for legal holidays. Our business telephone is (715)
262-5512. It is answered during business hours. The Pierce County
Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center answers our business line when our
office is closed.
We encourage Prescott residents to report emergencies and
non-business calls for police service by dailing 911. The Pierce
County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center will dispatch an officer to
your location or arrange for in person or telephone contact with an
officer.
Our department is a full-service law enforcement agency. We
conduct criminal investigations, investigate traffic accidents,
enforce traffic law and city ordinances, answer calls for service
and assist other agencies. We are assisted by deputies from
the Pierce County Sheriff's Office and troopers from the Wisconsin
State Patrol.
Our officers are highly-trained professionals with special
law enforcement skills and talents. We have our own evidence
technician and photographer, criminal investigator, firearms
instructor, field training officers and officers
with extensive experience in investigating crimes against
youth, domestic violence and senior citizens.
The chief of police is a state-certified humane officer and
motor carrier enforcement specialist.
