How do you schedule snow plowing - are there certain areas you plow first?

When a snow event begins, we do our best to keep the hills as naviagable as possible for safe winter driving. We use a salt-sand mix to assist us in melting the snow and ice. We pay special attention to the following hills: Cherry Street, Kinnickinnic Street, Orange Street, Dakota Street, Locust Street, Pine Ridge Street, Hilton Street, and Ellen Street. We also pay close attention to all State Highway intersections. It is a good idea to avoid these areas if possible because this is where most accidents happen. If the snowstorm persists or in an extreme snow event, we then plow our main corridors. This assists emergency responders and also keeps the general public moving. The main corridors that we try to keep open are: * Cherry and Canton to Hwy 10 * Orange and Linn to Orrin Road * Kinnickinnic and Campbell to Hwy 10 * Elm Street to State Hwy 35 * Walnut and Dexter Street to Hwy 10 * Young and Pearl to Hwy 10 * Orrin Road * Borner Street and Pine Street * North Acres Road * Monroe Loop out to the cemetery * Lake Street
