Parks in Prescott

Prescott offers a variety of parks and places of public interest. Freedom Park is the largest City Park and offers the Great River Road Learning Center, a butterfly garden with a water feature, native prairie gardens, and the farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons in Summer.  While there, enjoy the spectacular views of the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers, and magnificent sunsets from the overlooks. There are also great opportunities to watch Eagles soar over the water and bluffs from this location.

The rivers are a great asset to Prescott as are the parks along the rivers. The Prescott Public Beach is located on Lake Street, just off Hwy 10.  In 2009 it will feature a newly constructed picnic shelter with a restroom facility. There is also a public landing for kayaks, canoes, and sailboards further down Lake Street. (There is a second public beach on the Minnesota side of the St. Croix River just outside of Prescott on the North side of Highway 10.)

The city also maintains a Public Boat Launch on the Mississippi River.

Other Public Areas in Prescott that run along the rivers invite guests to stroll, or picnic as they take in the sites.

Currently there are 21 park and recreation areas throughout the City of Prescott.
